Pomegranates:
· Pomegranates are excellent sources of iron for those who are suffering from iron deficiency or anemia.
· It was found at the Preventive Medicine Research Institute in California, that drinking of 230ml of pomegranate juice, per day, starts reversing the progression of coronary heart disease within a period of only three months.
· Another study showed that a glass of pomegranate juice per day is capable of slowing down the rate of growth of prostate cancer.
Berries:
· Studies show that cranberry juice can effectively lower the threat of urinary tract infections in women who are sexually active. H.pylori infection, often causing ulcers and gastric cancer, can be suppressed, if this juice is consumed regularly.
· Pigments called anthocyanins present in blueberries and blackberries reduce the body fat levels. But eating an extract of the berry is more effective than having the entire fruit.
· Purple berries like blackcurrant and elderberry contain a significantly higher percentage of antioxidants than the more common berries, and thus can prevent Alzheimer’s disease, heart troubles and cancer.
· Berries are excellent sources of Vitamin C.
